Nike SB has announced that Leo Baker will be receiving their own signature skate shoe in 2023 — the Nike SB React Leo. Baker is the first transgender skater to create their very own Nike SB sneaker.
The upcoming model is an ode to Baker’s love of skateboarding and is inspired by the Nike SB Bruin High, Baker’s favorite SB sneaker. Baker’s personal style will be incorporated into the shoe and will also feature innovative performance specs from the SB React line.
The launch of the Nike SB React Leo will include seven colorways with options of “White/Black,” “Cacao Wow,” “Electro Orange,” “Midnight Navy,” “Black White,” “Thunder Blue,” and “Light Chocolate.”
Baker’s signature shoe will begin to release in Fall 2023, with new pairs arriving in Spring 2024. Additionally, two versions of the shoe will be available — a premium pair and general version.
The GR version of the shoe will feature a distinctive and creatively designed “Leo” motif on the panels, while the premium edition will incorporate a mesh construction. Depending on the specific release, the model will showcase either leather or nubuck overlays, adding a touch of luxury to the design. The tongues proudly display the name “Leo Baker,” and the insoles boast a unique graphic, adding a personalized touch. The sneaker will also incorporate React cushioning for exceptional comfort and responsiveness.
