FILA Grant Hill III
The one pair of shoes in my closet that I will absolutely never part with are the Grant Hill IIIs. I remember going to the local Weiner’s store and getting my layaway together for when school started. At the time, my mother couldn’t afford to buy me Jordans, so she got me these instead. I was just happy to not have to get shoes from Payless anymore. Growing up, I admired Grant Hill’s game, and his logo was crazy! I was fortunate enough to get the matching shirt and everything. While everyone else was wearing the same shoes, I stood out with something different. They were eventually worn out, and my mom threw them away when I went off to the Navy. A few months ago – while randomly searching eBay – I got extremely lucky and found a deadstock pair! FILA has yet to give these the retro treatment so getting my hands on an OG pair makes the pick up that much more special to me. These shoes played a significant role in my childhood and will never leave my side.
