Sacai and KAWS team up with Nike for what may be one of the most sought-after collabs ever, as these fashion powerhouses create a multicolor Blazer Low. Sacai took the sneaker landscape by storm over the last couple of years, creating geometric silhouettes that we hadn’t seen before. This approach to design has become sacai’s signature, with an instantly recognizable stacked sole that extends outward. This time around, sacai refines the design and calls on KAWS to lead creative direction.
Instantly you can see the sacai influence on the Nike Blazer Low, with its over-constructed design. The midsole extends onto the heel counter and lateral side. Duplicates seem to be a theme here as there’s a double-Swoosh, two pairs of shoelaces, double eyestay panels, and twin tongues that stack on top of each other. KAWS brings his expertise in use of color by pairing a deep shade of burgundy with muted taupe that gives the shoe a melancholic charm. KAWS marks the sneaker with his signature XX and then adds bright accents of red and yellow eyestay panels, with finishing touches of pink and teal Swooshes. While this sneaker may have a lot going on, it authentically captures the design styles of both sacai and KAWS alike.
