American Classics — The PF Flyers were seen in the iconic movie, Sandlot and on NBA’s First Superstar, Bob Cousy, and are making a comeback!

Recently, the heritage brand was bought from New Balance by Kassia Davis, the daughter of New Balance chairman and majority owner Jim Davis. Kassia is the Executive Chairwoman of the company and seeks a female CEO to lead the brand.

Founded in 1937, PF Flyers was previously owned and manufactured by New Balance. The brand relaunch is set for September with a collection of classics such as the “Center Hi” for $68, the “Center Lo” for $58, and the “Sandlot” for $78. New styles are scheduled to release in Fall ‘22.

PF Flyers will be operated by Davis’ holding company Kassia Designs, LLC. Valuation figures were not disclosed, but her goal is to build a billion-dollar brand.

In May 2020, Davis founded KADA, a sustainable women’s apparel brand. Prior to that, she was with New Balance for nearly 10 years and left the company in 2019. Though she is no longer with the company, her new PF Flyers venture will keep the iconic brand in the Davis family.

The goal is to revamp the brand and target female consumers. In addition, she plans on expanding size offerings for women and add a “female focus” to the design process.

Davis tapped in former Design Director of Jordan Brand, D’Wayne Edwards to lead creative direction for the brand’s first year. Edwards is the Founder of Pensole Footwear Design Academy.

Though Pensole will assist in executing Davis’ plans to elevate the historic brand, she wants to stay true to PF Flyers’ 80+ year history.
