The Jordan Tatum 2 is Built to Last

Jayson Tatum’s latest accolade is here.

Jordan Brand and Jayson Tatum continue to soar as the brand has officially unveiled the Celtics forward’s second signature shoe — the Jordan Tatum 2.

Not only is the Tatum 2 the lightest shoe in the Jordan Brand performance line to date, it also strives to be the most durable in the game, like Tatum.

“The first things that comes to mind when I look at my shoe are stability, comfort and trust,” Tatum said in a press release. “I want my shoes to keep me locked in, to be comfortable, and to know that it can enable me to do what I do on the court.”

The design ethos of the Jordan Tatum 2 was built from Jayson’s desire to have a shoe that is one with his foot. In order to do so, the upper abandons the TPU from the Tatum 1 and instead features large foam and textile pods in areas of the foot that experience high pressure when playing basketball. The foam frame surrounding the pods stabilize the foot without limiting mobility or feel.

A full-length Air Strobel unit is the foundation as the cushioning within the Tatum 2 delivers responsiveness, a smooth heel-to-toe transition and a more flexible feel aligned with durability in mind. Burning it all together is a modified herringbone traction pattern on the outsole with coverage in highly needed areas while also reducing in weight.

And like the Tatum 1, the newest model will arrive in full-family sizing, tied to Jordan Brand and Tatum’s commitment for the next generation of athletes. Like the Tatum 1, the Kids version of the Tatum 2 includes a collapsible tailgate on the heel, as Tatum wanted a shoe that was easy for kids to get in and out of. In partnership with the Jordan Brand design team, Tatum helped influence a kids-specific design that uses an innovative, injected TPU tailgate system to help with easy entry.

“Whenever a kid sees my shoe on a shelf or online, or slides them on their feet, I want them to feel connected to me; I want them to feel a bond,” Tatum stated. “I remember getting the shoes of my favorite player that I always used to watch on TV. For me, it bridged that gap from thousands of miles away so that when I put that shoe on, it bonded and connected us. Whether that athlete knew it or not, there was a different energy I had as a kid when I put that on. I hope kids feel something special when they put mine on.”

Other details of the Tatum 2 are tied to his family, much like the Tatum 1. On the shoe, fans can find details such as the number “0” and Jayson’s signature featured on the heel of the shoe. Additionally, the “JT” logo on the front of the tongue with “Deuce” on the inside of the tongue are the prefect tie for the renowned father-son duo.

The “Find A Way” tagline is also featured on the shoe, which came from his popular “humbly” interview and ties to always finding a way to win. And finally, Tatum’s “Like Father, Like Son” serves as inspiration for the the shoe to reference his relationship with his son.

“Even though I know my mom and son will be proud of me regardless, they inspire me to be the best person and player that I can be,” Tatum said. “I want to be someone that my son is proud of. I want my mom to continue to watch me with joy and unconditional love and that her son is maximizing the talents that I was blessed with. This shoe is a big sign that I’m doing that, but the work doesn’t stop here.”

The Jordan Tatum 2 releases in Spring 2024 with the “Momma’s Boy” iteration on March 5 and the “Vortex” colorway on April 4. The shoe will retail for $125 (adult), $95 (grade school), $75 (Pre-School), $55 (Toddler).
