After an All-American campaign at Kentucky, Bronx native Jamal Mashburn entered the NBA Draft where he would be selected by the Dallas Mavericks.? As a Maverick, Mashburn would join fellow young stars Jason Kidd and Jimmy Jackson to form the “Triple J” backcourt.? After a promising start in Dallas he would run into injury problems and eventually be dealt to the Miami Heat and later the Charlotte Hornets.? With the Hornet’s he would resurrect his career as one of the best scoring forwards in the league and be named to the 2003 All-Star Team.? In March 2006, Mashburn retired from the game.? He is currently working as an NBA analyst for ESPN.
Fila signed Mashburn to an endorsement deal upon his NBA arrival.? His most famous signature shoe with the Italian brand was the Fila Mashburn Mid.? He wore his signature shoe while playing for the Dallas Mavericks.? Later in his career Mashburn would wear Nike.? While Nike would never give Mashburn a signature shoe he was very famous for wearing the Nike Air Flight Max II during his Hornet’s days.
