Stories that inspire sneakers are often times stories that first influenced the world. In the case of the upcoming adidas Originals “Frank Shorter vs. The Imposter” Pack, the latter is most certainly true.
During the 1972 Olympics, American long-distance runner Frank Shorter was out front in a race when an “imposter” entered the stadium a ran a fake race all the way to victory. That infamous moment in American athletic history inspires this new release from adidas, for which they’ve offered up a ZX500 RM in “Bold Gold” and an I-5923 in “Collegiate Royal.”
The ZX500 RM is a representation of Shorter, with his Olympic number 1014 stamped on the tongue. Its counterpart, the I-5923, is signed “xxxx” in an ode to the marathon itself.
