You won’t find a name more respected in the sneaker industry than Gary Warnett. A gifted writer with a strong sense of humor and encyclopedic mind of cultural information, the late author is remembered by friend Simone Smyth in the form of a bespoke Reebok Classic Leather designed in his memory.
Denoted by nods to Warnett inside and out, the shoe sees BEDFORD printed on the insole to note Gary’s hometown. While Warnett had actually crafted a criminally minded Classic Leather collab himself back in 2013, this pair touches on that with prison detailing in the form of embroidered arrows and a single black eyelet. An icy outsole and Moomin design on the tongue cap off the colorway, while a metal border with plastic overlay covers the branding as an archival detail not seen since the Reebok Ripples from the 1990s — a small detail Gary would truly appreciate.
This GWARIZM edition – named after Warnett’s acclaimed personal blog – will not be released but gifted to friends and family of Gary. Get a better look at this homage pair below.
