Earlier today, one of the greatest point guards to come out of the Lone Star State announced his retirement. T.J. Ford?s hoop dreams began in Houston, blossomed in Austin, and will continue beyond his last games in San Antonio. Today, we focus on his accomplishments at the University of Texas. A freshman campaign would see Ford lead the Longhorns to a Sweet Sixteen and lead the nation in assists. He followed up his first year’s success by taking UT to the Final Four and winning numerous national player of the year awards as a sophomore. His first season saw a variety of kicks ranging from the Nike Air Flightposite III to the Air Jordan 11 ?Concord?, but it was the Air Jordan 17+ ?Copper? that propelled Ford through the better part of his storied sophomore season.
