We often hear about sneaker violence, but what about the opposite? For 17 years in Flordia, Real Radio 104.1’s Kicks for Guns initiative has allowed residents of The Sunshine State to swap in unwanted firearms for a pair of sneakers or a gift card. Amnesty is granted to all attendees and no questions are asked. This year it was reported that 774 firearms were turned in, with nearly 10,000 guns in total being brought in over the program’s span.

Props to Real Radio 104.1 for putting on such a program and props to Complex and Click Orlando for spotting it. Let us know if you’d like to see your state put on a similar program in the comments section.
