Renowned sneaker boutique Extra Butter and adidas’ premium and limited-edition segment adidas Consortium have once again joined forces, this time on a Rivalry Low “Battle Royale”.
Inspired by the Japanese cult classic film, Batter Royale, the Extra Butter x adidas Rivalry Low “Battle Royale” sports a color palette reminiscent of the school uniforms seen in the movie. The duo opts for premium full-grain leather overlays, cracked leather panels, and perforated suede in khaki, antique white, and creme hues. To further highlight the themes in the film, the collaborative models sport frayed threading, broken stitch lines and a mix of refined materials with rugged accents.
“We wanted the shoe design to have layered storytelling, similar to that of the film,” says Extra Butter Creative Director, Bernie Gross. “It has elements of classic, wearable, ivy prep, but still features elements that represent the chaos and stress put onto the kids of the film. The release of this Rivalry retro comes in partnership with adidas after winning votes from last year’s adidas Consortium Cup, a design competition amongst 16 global retailers including Extra Butter.
