The deaths of Gianna and Kobe Bryant still don’t feel real. Whether you’re a Mamba loyal or just a fan of the game of basketball, the death of Kobe and his 13-year old daughter still feels like a nightmare we’re waiting to wake up from.
During the 2020 All-Star Weekend festivities, the league and its players honored Kobe and Gigi in a multitude of ways from the jersey numbers to an emotional pre-game tribute and so much more. Despite the fact that they’re no longer with us, their presence was definitely felt on the court.
Lakers coach Phil Handy honored the Mamba and Mambacita with a custom Nike Zoom Kobe 5 done by ACES and Brian Kortovich. The pair made an appearance during the ASG practice and captivated the hearts of many. The custom took the Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Protro “Chaos” to a new level with GIGI and KOBE found across the side panel along with Mamba Mentality and Mambacita Mentality respectively found inside the Swoosh of each shoe.
