Just like greats on the hardwood and gridiron, CrossFit champion Mat Fraser is getting his own Nike sneaker.
Dubbed the Nike Metcon 4 “Mat Fraser,” the sneaker sports a jet black upper and gum mid and outsole. Fraser’s love for weightlifting and motorcycles can be seen throughout the shoe as the upper has a diamond grip pattern similar to a barbell. The motorcycle detailing can be found with the bull’s skull on the tongue, quilted lining, gunmetal chrome on the heel and laces tips.
Another noticeable detail are the two circles on the back heel, which represent Fraser’s first-place medals in the CrossFit Games. Fraser’s personal mantra of “hard work pays off” (HWPO) is written on the insoles.
“These design elements are really about celebrating some of my passions inside and outside of the gym,” Fraser said. “This shoe gives me such sense of accomplishment. It really gets me amped up to keep doing what I’m doing — working hard and trying to make myself the best athlete I possibly can.”
Fraser will debut his sneakers in the 2018 CrossFit Games on May 27 and the Nike Metcon 4 “Mat Fraser” will be released on June 8 for $150 on nike.com.
