The estranged relationship between Chris Webber and the University of Michigan is both one of the most interesting and unfortunate in all sports. Along with the remaining members of the Fab 5, former coach Steve Fisher and of course Nike Basketball, Webber helped make the Wolverines one of the most influential and successful college basketball programs in the country.
Unfortunately, though, things happened and those things never got resolved. Nike, a middle man of sorts in this soap opera, is releasing a signature shoe of C Webb’s in Michigan centric colors. The Nike Air Max Sensation is both an ode to Webber and his alienated alma mater. Could this be Nike’s attempt to help open discussions between the two parties to resolve their issues? Probably not. Really and truly, it’s just my hope that someone or something helps the two mend their differences.
Either way, this Nike Air Max Sensation “Wolverines” is great and hopefully they’ll release in wider numbers soon. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see C Webb in a pair.
