Collection Starter: Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red”/”Burgundy” (2006)
“While there are usually specific pairs that started it all for most, I had two pairs that essentially “started it all” for me. The 2006 “Fire Red” 5’s & “Burgundy” 5’s were the FIRST pair of kicks that I bought with my own money. I saved my allowance up for months, just to be able to get both pairs when they released. They released a week before my 15th birthday, so it was like an early birthday present to myself. I needed them so bad that I reminded my Mom for weeks that we had to wake up at 4am just to go to the mall. To thank my Mom, I bought her the “Powder Blue” Retro 5 Lows that released that day as well. Let’s just say December 16, 2006 was a landmark day for me. Experiencing a shoe release for the first time was amazing. I met a lot of cool people and the overall feeling it gave me was what prompted me to start collecting.”
