Community Collections celebrates Mother’s Day with the mother-load of adidas sneakers. Andrew Wirch has become one of the brand’s own, with a stash that is almost completely composed of Three Stripe silhouettes. Originally reeled in by track jackets and tracksuits, Wirch built an appreciation for the history and tradition of a classic look, while his stock gradually skewed towards the stripes. Now living on-site in Portland, this collector has a full arsenal of the brand’s staples, from adidas Originals to retros and the latest from the basketball department.

Sneaker Story:

“My whole life, I guess I have been some sort of a collector. Originally it was trading cards as a kid, and eventually jerseys as a teen. As I grew older, I started to really try to appreciate what I wore and how comfortable I could feel. To be honest, my sneaker obsession really began from my addiction to tracksuits. When you have over 60 track jackets or suits, you tend to need a lot of shoes to match. Over time, I naturally became more focused on the sneaker aspect. I have always appreciated a great sneaker while playing a lot of basketball and soccer when I was younger. Because of this, I was more of a fan of athletic shoes like the Reebok Pump or adidas Copa Mundial. Now my sneaker collection theme is fairly obvious, as just about my entire collection is adidas. Growing up in Green Bay only a few miles away from Lambeau Field, I learned to appreciate history, tradition, and a classic look. When I first read about Adi Dassler and the adidas story, I was sold. While I love all bright colors and crazy prints these days, the classic Three Stripe look is easily my favorite design. Land, water or air, I’m ready for any field, court, pitch or stage. My collection has a good balance of limited and practical footwear. I’m all about that #threestripelife.”
