2007: Year of the Boar

Despite 2007 being the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1, Nike went another direction with the zodiac program, releasing two other silhouettes instead. The Air Footscape Woven 360 Hybrid followed 2006’s lead and presented a wild sneaker that you definitely don’t see everyday. The 360 degree Max Air sole sat below a suede and woven upper that was decorated with pig-inspired artwork. A similar treatment was given to a Dunk High, which featured mismatching foxing emblems. adidas also got into the game by releasing the Top Ten in both High and Low fashions, complete with pig embroidery. 2007 was the year when things really picked up, and the brands began to focus more and more on the Chinese tradition.
