Focus: To raise awareness and revenue for Oregon?s premier Doernbecher Children?s Hospital.
Overview: Nike and OHSU Doernbecher Children?s Hospital are embarking on their seventh year as a partnership in the form of the Doernbecher Freestyle footwear collection. This ongoing series, which pairs young Doernbecher patients with Nike designers, has produced some of the most sought-after, peculiar designs the sneaker community has witnessed. The young Doernbecher patients collaborate with Nike designers to create footwear that expresses their personal stories; therefore, each design contains something that is meaningful to the creator, although many of us look at it as another great makeup. This annual program has raised more than $4 million dollars to date.? The proceeds support the hospital’s advanced pediatric research, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and training the next generation of pediatric specialists.
