atmos and adidas are having a busy year together with multiple collaborations under their belt, most notably their “Denim Pack” from last month and they join forces again on the adidas Superstar inspired by Shibuya and man’s best friend.

Hachiko is a Japanese Akita who waited for his owner Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor at the University of Tokyo, outside the ticket gates at the Shibuya train station every day. Ueno passed away suddenly and Hachiko still trekked out to Shibuya station for nine years until Hachiko passed away. Shibuya station has a bronze statue outside of the station and Hachiko’s loyalty and story have reached all over the world even spawning movies about him.

The collaborative Superstar is dressed in a faux fur upper to resemble Hachiko’s furry coat with dark brown suede utilized for accenting on the 3 Stripes and heeltab. The tongue tag is made of metal, symbolizing a dog tag and “YOU MAKE SHIBUYA” printed on the insole alongside an illustration of Hachiko. Lastly, the shell toe and midsole are seen in cream with the address of where the statue of Hachiko is located.

The atmos x adidas Superstar “Hachiko” is set to drop on September 18th for 15,400 Yen at atmos-tokyo.com via raffle. Proceeds from the collaboration will support the Shibuya Ward Official Souvenir Project as well as the city itself. Check out the photos below.
