When Anthony Volpe isn’t golfing on his off day or grabbing a slice from Lucali’s in Brooklyn, the New York Yankees shortstop is holding it down on the diamond for one of the most iconic sports organizations.
From a native New Yorker to an internal part of the Yankees’ infield, Volpe is living the dream.
“It’s a dream come true and it hasn’t set in yet,” Volpe said on playing for his childhood ball club. “I’m super grateful for the opportunity and it’s motivating to continue to follow in a lot of footsteps of players I grew up loving and watching.”
Being a shortstop is no small task. But that hasn’t stopped Volpe from rising to the occasion. The American League Gold Glove Award winner (the youngest ever and the only Yankee rookie to win the award) is built for the pressure.
