The information age has changed much around us. It’s altered not only how we consume information, but how we receive it. But in years past things were slower, we talked in person more, and the way we orbited around sneaker culture was vastly simplified.
This is the premise behind the latest installment of the adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange, which features two sneaker boutiques that play pivotal roles in modern sneaker culture: New York’s Alife and Parisian-based Starcow. The later opening just before the turn of the century in 1999, and Starcow shortly after in 2001, both institutions represent a time when boutiques were a meeting and breeding ground for sneakers, culture, art and style.
The exchange program extends to the adidas Gazelle and Stan Smith, both featuring base shades in grey and off-white with subtle patriotic nods courtesy of red and blue that both pay tribute to the US “Stars and Stripes” and the French “Tricolore.”
