In 2007, just months after the release of Graduation, Kanye West’s mother, biggest inspiration and biggest fan, Donda West, passed away.

The untimely death would spark both a personal low point and creative explosion for Kanye who shortly after made 808s & Heartbreak and dug deeper into his pursuits in fashion. Created as an homage during the same era the Nike Air Yeezy 1 would’ve been produced is the unreleased Air Jordan 6 Donda West.

Unearthed by @NikeAirJordanVI, the celebratory sneakers hail from 2008. A size 12 promo pair points to being produced for Kanye himself.

While these obviously never released, Ye’s ties to the Air Jordan 6 run deep.

Over the course of his career, from his College Dropout liner notes to his last days with Nike, the AJ6 has proven a seminal silo in his style arsenal.

Some may even remember the Nike Air Yeezy 1 sample crafted with a Jordan 6 sole.

So, playing to Kanye’s personal tastes in Jordans and paying homage to his late mother, this unreleased 6 PE features a white leather upper with red accents, graphic print and the lyrics to Kanye’s “Roses” song on the insole.

Very rare, Don C is the only person who had ever been spotted with this shoe until now.
