The Air Jordan 11 “DMP” is the Air Jordan 11 for Holiday 2023, per Sole Retriever.
In 2006, Jordan Brand released its “Defining Moments Pack” which included the Air Jordan 6 and the Air Jordan 11 to celebrate the sneakers worn in MJ’s first championships from each of his three-peats (AJ6 – 1991; AJ11 – 1996).
The brand’s first-ever two-shoe drop created a commotion like no other. Retailing at $295, the Air Jordan “DMP” tandem was a collector’s dream with its special packaging, golden dog tags, and limited availability. In addition to its obvious lure, the black & gold color scheme of the Air Jordan 6/11 “DMP” delivered a sense of luxury that further justified the nearly-$300 release.
The Air Jordan 6/11 “DMP” didn’t only define Jordan’s greatness but defined a new chapter in sneaker culture. Camping out would become commonpractice. Reselling for 2-3x over retail price would become reoccurring. Backdooring would become a basis.
The myth of the Air Jordan 6/11 “DMP” grew larger as some pairs of the Air Jordan 11 featured the “JORDAN” writing on the 11’s eyelets — most omitted the branding due to the lettering not staying in place.
Jordan Brand brought back the Air Jordan 6 “DMP” in the spring of 2020 and delivered a 1-to-1 of one of the most elusive and memorable AJ6s of all time. The retro raised the question: Will the Air Jordan 11 “DMP” ever return?
Set to drop on December 9th, 2023, Jordan Brand will be bringing back the Air Jordan 11 “DMP” colorway. While images of the shoe have yet to be seen, we anticipate the retro to mirror the 2006 release akin to the Air Jordan 6 “DMP” release from a few years ago.
As of now, it’s unclear whether or not the 2023 Air Jordan 11 “DMP” will feature the “JORDAN” branding on the eyelets. Though, it could be likely as the brand experimented with the concept during Holiday 2020 with the Air Jordan 11 “Jubilee” release. The 2023 version, however, will be built with a leather upper instead of the AJ11’s signature mesh build.
