Not only is there always discussion surrounding the best original Air Jordan 1 colorways, nowadays there’s an equal amount of talk regarding the best non-OG 1s. By in large, the very-first “Shattered Backboard” tends to land somewhere near the top of that list. As it should.
Jordan Brand, keen on the fact that the SBB is a trending style in tumbled leather or satin, looks to have plans to release a third colorway of the coveted style in 2019.
Originally produced as an ode to Michael Jordan’s participation in an exhibition game in Italy back in 1985 where one of his famous dunks shattered a breakaway backboard, the first SBB released in 2015 subsequently followed by the “Shattered Backboard Away” in 2016.
This third pair is reported to remove the white balancer and simply feature a black and orange upper. However, no images of the shoe have been revealed at this time (only the rendering seen above).
Those same reports indicate the tentatively titled Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard 3.0” will release during the fall/winter 2019 season.
Update 1/7: Modern Notoriety is reporting that the Air Jordan 1 “SBB 3.0” is expected to release on October 4, 2019. Jordan Brand has yet to confirm this date so stay tuned for additional details.
Update 3/4: A leaked stock image of the Air Jordan 1 “SBB 3.0” has been revealed by zsneakerheadz. The image has not been affirmed by Jordan Brand nor has the October 2019 release date expected to accompany this third installment of the Shattered Backboard series. Stay tuned for more.
