With its newly opened storefront and adjoining cafe in New York City, Aimé Leon Dore continues to trend upwards under the guidance of founder Teddy Santis.
Thriving, too, off the strength of its spring/summer 2019 collection, ALD today teases a preview of an upcoming New Balance collaboration.
Taking a scene from the classic New Balance ad that famously read “when the going gets tough, the tough get going,” ALD offers a uniquely modern take on that theme with an elder male model in a very contemporary fit. Tote in hand with a baguette protruding out, French bulldog on a leash and, finally, what appears to be mismatching New Balance 997s on his feet.
Santis’ iteration removes the aforementioned tagline for one that reads “The Intelligent Choice,” which mirrors the ads clever attire coupled with the grace of an elderly man with a cigar tucked between his lips.
Stay tuned for more on the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance in the weeks ahead.
Update 3/20: Both ALD founder Teddy Santis and Ronnie Fieg have both shared additional looks at the ALD x New Balance 997 collaboration. A mismatching set honors Aimé’s color language seen throughout their ongoing collection and current spring/summer 2019 offering. A grey base is offset by pink, blue and yellow secondary shades and an off white midsole. Santis didn’t announce release details for the shoe only that they’ll arrive this spring.
Update 4/10: Aimé Leon Dore’s much-anticipated New Balance 997 collaboration is set to release this Friday, April 12, on aimeleondore.com at 11am EST. Pairs will also be available at the brand’s New York City storefront. A time for that release has not yet been disclosed.
