Yohji Yamamoto’s adidas Y-3 label is often a breeding ground for other brands and designers to seek inspiration. His modernist take on sneaker culture orbits around the progressive nature of Japanese street culture. But even Yamamoto needs inspiration of his own sometimes.
Here, he looks inward at the adidas Superstar to curate the budding adidas Y-3 Super Zip. With a hard shell toe reminiscent of the three stripes cultural staple, two zip closures cover the lacing system with the adjoining piece acting as a removable component. Sleek paneling is aided by premium eyelets with Y-3 branding at the heel.
