It’s been 25 years since the cult classic comedy Happy Gilmore hit theaters, and to celebrate, adidas has teamed up with Extra Butter for a collection that’ll make Chubbs proud. The collection features the adidas Ultra Boost 1.0, ZG21, Adilette Boost Slides, as well as apparel.
adidas Ultraboost 1.0 “Shooter” – The Ultra Boost 1.0 comes dressed in a gold Primeknit upper, inspired by the Gold Jacket in the movie. Gold suede overlays are used on the heel counter and mudguard, with Shooter McGavin’s signature finger gun gesture debossed on the lateral mudguard. A white cage brings contrast to the sneaker and comes equipped with tee holders on the lateral side. The insole comes with adidas and Extra Butter printed on the right insole, with Shooter’s reaction to Happy Gilmore’s putt that won the Gold Jacket mentioned above.
adidas ZG21 “Chubbs” – The ZG21 takes an old-school approach to the performance golf shoe. It’s dressed in a simple eggshell white and grey with a brogue pattern adorned on the mudguard and a co-branded fringe kiltie over the laces. Additionally, alligator print is utilized on the quarter panel, a nod to the arch-nemesis of Chubbs, and the 3 stripes are seen on the medial side. As far as tech goes, the ZG21 utilizes a hybrid cushioning setup of Boost and Lightstrike and a Six-cleat Thintech TPU outsole for stability.
adidas Adilette Boost Slide – The Adilette Boost Slides use a green felt in the footbed with gold co-branding on the heel. Green is utilized again on the strap with the 3 Stripes in white and gold contrast stitching throughout. The lateral hit features “Happy Gilmore 25th Anniversary” in gold to finish off the comfy slide.
The collection also features a variety of apparel and accessories, featuring an embroidered patch of Happy and Chubbs’ “It’s all in the hips” putting scene, Shooter’s finger guns, and adidas and Extra Butter co-branding.
The adidas x Extra Butter x Happy Gilmore Collection will be available at Extra Butter in-store in Lower East Side and Long Island City, online at extrabutterny.com, and the Extra Butter app on June 25th.
