Years ago, even before adidas announced its long term partnership with Parley for the Oceans, adidas presented a plan to offer sustainable sneakers to the masses. The goals were lofty but attainable with the right amount of success. One of those goals was to sell millions of sneakers produced with waste from our oceans.

According to Kasper Rorsted, acting adidas CEO, in 2017 the brand sold 1 million sneakers produced by ocean plastic. The number represents approximately 11 millions plastic bottles from the ocean recycled into high quality sneakers.

It is expected that adidas will continue to move large volumes of sustainable footwear in 2018. However, topping their 2017 tally is no small feat. Yet the amount sales almost pales in comparison to the mission, and the continue effort behind this cause.
