Adidas struck gold this year when the retro release of the Gazelle resonated with sneaker culture at large. Where the Stan Smith channeled tennis heritage the Gazelle did the same for soccer. Similarly, the adidas Samba, designed for indoor soccer, looks to make a splash (again) next year after releasing in large numbers in 2016.
Before a resurgence in 2018, though, the Samba tests the waters with this simplistic “Gum” pack. Minimally designed black and white pairs adorn premium suede fabrication and gold branding, while the pack’s moniker sees its presence felt at the gum constructed sole unit.
