At this point the notion of adidas having a banner 2015 calendar year can seem a bit repetitive; however, it’s the opinion of many. Keeping that success going, adidas has developed new features for its Futurecraft 3D series, and this time they’re looking to implement an innovative initiative that reduces the amount of plastic pollution within the ocean due to sneaker construction.

The ideation of the shoe is that the upper is made with ocean plastic content and a 3D-printed midsole made from recycled polyester and gillnets. In addition, the adidas brand will continue to phase out the use of plastic bags in its own retail stores, with the emphasis of it being completed by Q1 of 2016. Ultimately, this a strong step for adidas as they look to make the world a better and safer environment.
