A Complete History of Kobe Bryant’s All-Star Shoes

From slam dunk giant to versatile vet, Kobe Bryant has shined as a star of stars since his first season in the league. Switching shoe sponsors but always sporting something special, Kobe has kept up with and set some of the biggest trends in basketball footwear. Though not playing, we celebrate his sixteenth All-Star selection with a complete history of his kicks from the showcase weekend.

adidas EQT Top Ten 2010

Year: 1997
Event: Rookie Game

Kobe showed his skills in the ’97 Rookie Game, standing out amongst one of the best draft classes ever. Jelly Bean Jr. did his thing by getting buckets in the EQT Top Ten 2010.

Year: 1997
Event: Slam Dunk Contest

Like Mike, Kobe added to his legacy early by winning the Slam Dunk Contest. Sporting a purple PE of the EQT Elevation, a teenage Kobe became the youngest player to ever take home the title.

Year: 1998
Event: All-Star Game

It didn’t take long for Kobe to get All-Star votes or a signature shoe. The original KB8 got dressed up for ASG festivities in Bryant’s big stage debut.

Year: 2000
Event: All-Star Game

A lockout kept the KB8 sequel from getting ASG shine. Nevertheless, the following season Kobe paid tribute to adidas heritage with the seldom seen Top Ten Supreme.

Year: 2001
Event: All-Star Game

Sporting Laker yellow in bright fashion, Kobe Bryant laced up the “Sunshine” colorway of The Kobe for 2001. He led the West squad in scoring with 19 points.

Year: 2002
Event: All-Star Game

Dropping 31, 5, and 5, Kobe took home his first ASG MVP in The Kobe II. He did so in a Laker colorway in front of a hometown Philly crowd.

Air Jordan 3 “True Blue”

Year: 2003
Event: All-Star Game

Kobe’s lone season as a sneaker free agent saw him sporting any and every brand. An Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” sighting played perfectly to the throwback jerseys and MJ’s last ASG.

Nike Air Zoom Huarache 2k4 “All-Star”

Year: 2004
Event: All-Star Game

Kobe Bryant put up 20 points in his first official All-Star Game with Nike. While he did’t get a signature right away, he was the face of the Huarache 2k4.

Nike Air Zoom Huarache 2k5 “All-Star” PE

Year: 2005
Event: All-Star Game

The 2005 All-Star Game saw balanced scoring and highlights. Kobe led the West in minutes and assists, staying busy in the Huarache 2k5.

Year: 2006
Event: All-Star Game

The 2006 ASG saw Kobe sport his first signature with Nike. Dressed in white, red, and blue, the Zoom Kobe 1 got laced in league colors.

Year: 2007
Event: All-Star Game

Kobe took home his second ASG MVP in his second Nike signature, the Zoom Kobe II Sheath. A 31 point performance saw him surpass Magic Johnson on the all time scoring list for All-Stars.

Nike Zoom Kobe III “All-Star”

Year: 2008
Event: All-Star Game

Due to a torn ligament tear in his pinky, Kobe only played three minutes in the ’08 ASG. Never the less, he busted out a Red/Gold colorway of the Zoom Kobe III.

Nike Zoom Kobe IV “All-Star”

Year: 2009
Event: All-Star Game

Kobe and Shaq joined forces and shared in MVP honors at the 2009 ASG. The Black Mamba did his thing in the desert, putting up a game-high 27 points in the low top Zoom Kobe IV.

Nike Zoom Kobe V “All-Star”

Year: 2010
Event: All-Star Game

Injuries kept Kobe out of the 2010 All-Star Game. Still, the Kobe V released in a celebratory red, wood grain colorway.

Nike Zoom Kobe VI “All-Star”

Year: 2011
Event: All-Star Game

Back in action, Kobe Bryant brought in the most votes and took home the MVP for 2011’s All-Star Game. He did so in a scaly red makeup of the Zoom Kobe VI.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII “Galaxy”

Year: 2012
Event: All-Star Game

Despite breaking his nose and getting a concussion, Kobe dropped 27 points and became the all time leader in ASG history in 2011. The out of this world accomplishment came in the “Galaxy” Zoom Kobe VII.

Nike Kobe 8 “Extraterrestrial”

Year: 2013
Event: All-Star Game

Continuing the space-inspired theme, Kobe wore an “Extraterrestrial” Kobe 8 in H-Town last weekend. KB24 dropped nine points and handed out eight assists, making some big defensive plays late in the game.

Nike Kobe 9 Elite “Maestro”

Kobe won’t be playing in the 2014 All-Star Game due to injury, but you can still cop his kicks at select Nike accounts.
