Best known for her work with AMBUSH, Yoon Ahn has taken the world by storm over the last few years. After making waves with her design work in the early 2000’s, she more recently was appointed Dior Homme’s jewelry designer in 2018. Now, she enters a new world taking on the NBA as the first female designer to officially partner with them with Nike.

Being recognized as one of the most empowering women in a male-dominated industry speaks volumes about who Yoon is. Following a multicultural upbringing, she was witness to many cultural trends, now shaping the basketball industry to become more inclusive. This can be seen clearly through her basketball inspired collection launching with Nike next week. Featuring pants & jackets inspired by the LA Lakers & Brooklyn Nets, a set of Dunk Highs are the highlight. That said, the apparel shouldn’t be overlooked – AMBUSH have proven time and again that they are masters in this space. Aside from the pants & jackets, we expect to see jerseys & shorts drop alongside AMBUSH branded Nike Basketballs.

Focusing on the Dunks, we expect to see a unique rendition of one of Nike’s favorite creations. With slight tweaks to the dimensions of the paneling, the pair creates a distinct looking dunk.  The streamlined toe box sits closer to the sole, while a new panel is introduced on the toe vamp, connecting the eye-stays. Heightened ankle collars include a new cuff panel, mimicked on the heel in a slimmer tab with distinct AMBUSH branding. Exaggerated panels combine with waxed laces, toweled lining & solid soles encapsulating a fitting feature for the collection. Wrapping up the collaboration is the elongated & enlarged swoosh, drawing from motorcycle design to extend past the heel.

While two colorways have been announced so far, Yoon teased that there will be two additional colorways available on launch. Inspired by Japanese bike, car & truck culture, the shoes are already capturing minds globally and a guaranteed hit. The full collection drops on December 11th around the world. We’re big fans of this collaboration and can’t wait for it to drop. As always keep it locked in to Nice Kicks for the latest on this collaboration & more!
