Food connoisseur and streetwear personality, Eddie Huang, honors the traditions central to the Chinese New Year with his upcoming adidas Ultra Boost collaboration.
In a direct ode to the Year of the Pig, Huang hones in on the customs that make this annual holiday authentic.
“Chinese New Year is a day to gather with friends, fam, old spirits, and new.” said Huang. “Open your doors, open your windows, sweep out last year’s luck and welcome in the new. As an overseas Taiwanese-Chinese, my favorite part of Chinese New Year has always been introducing our culture and values to friends. With adidas, I wanted to honor Chinese New Year in a way that resonates will all generations. The Ultraboost is meant to commemorate the holiday in a modern way.”
Colored in a bold red hue that focuses on earliest tones that represent Chinese culture, a call out to Huang’s Chinee Boyz BBQ is noted at the sockliner while pink accents stabilize a Primeknit upper and suede tongue. In punctuation, a Chinese character that reads “Good Fortune” stamps the heel.
