Dating back to 2005, Nike has honored Black History Month with budding sneaker and apparel collections. This year, Converse enters the fold with a BHM collection of their own, offering Pan-African inspired iterations of the Chuck 70.
Holistically driven by national African patterns that prove to support Afro-futurism both as a concept and budding genre, Converse drowns the Chuck 70 in heritage-based hues that speak to African roots and the rhythm of its people.
There is, too, the implementation of sport. Converse, largely a brand whose origins were birth in basketball, play a critical role in the service of African-Americans both in sports and sneakers. The Chuck Taylor often serves as a cultural relic in both fields.
Each of these Converse Chuck 70 BHM editions will release very soon. More details to come.
