Although James Harden wore Nike Basketball footwear during his dominance at the Drew League this past week, in which his team took the championship, his tenure with the Swoosh looks to be at an end. Following news of his adidas offer that spans 13 years and $200 million, new reports indicate that Nike is not willing to match his existing offer.

First reported by TMZ Sports, it’s detailed that sources close to Nike indicate that the Beaverton-based company will indeed allow Harden to walk. And while nothing is official, it’s said that Nike is just not willing to invest such a large figure into the All-Star guard.

Harden, however, is still yet to put pen to paper and sign the pending adidas offer – even though all reports indicate that he eventually will. But could Harden pull a Jimmy Butler and sign with Nike for a lesser amount? That, too, is an option he could explore. Or does his decision have implications tied to teammate Dwight Howard and his decision to leave adidas for Peak? Moreover, could Harden be thinking about his relationship with Khole Kardashian and the adidas allegiance in the family that extends to Kanye West? We’ll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for more on this developing story.
