Leaked images circulating on Instagram this week have given us our first look at the adidas Adizero EVO SL 2 — the follow-up to one of the most talked-about performance running releases of the past year. adidas hasn’t said a word officially, and concrete specs aren’t out there yet, but the visuals alone tell an interesting story: the SL 2 looks like it’s pulling design cues from the very top of the Adizero pyramid.

The Design Lineage Just Got More Interesting
When the original Adizero EVO SL hit shelves, the story wrote itself: it pulled the visual language of the $500 Adizero Pro Evo 1 — the brand’s halo super shoe — down to an accessible price point. Full-length Lightstrike Pro. A stripped-down racing aesthetic. It won over both performance runners and casual run clubbers, and quickly became one of the most-talked-about daily trainers of the year.
The EVO SL 2 looks like it takes that idea a step further.
The silhouette in the leaked images bears a notable resemblance to the Adizero Prime X Evo — the rule-bending, high-stack super shoe Charlie Lawrence wore to set the 100-mile world record. The midsole geometry reads more aggressive, the toe spring more sculpted, and the upper cleaner than the OG EVO SL. Where the first EVO SL referenced the Pro Evo 1, the SL 2 looks like it’s pulling cues from both the Pro Evo and the Prime X.
In other words: more super shoe trickle-down, less daily trainer compromise.
That’s the genuinely interesting move here. adidas already had a winner with the original EVO SL — they could have done a safe, iterative update. Instead, the leaked silhouette suggests they’re using the SL platform to bring even more elite-tier design language down to the masses. If the on-foot experience matches the visual ambition, the SL 2 could be one of the most interesting non-plated trainers of the year.

What’s Actually Confirmed Right Now
Honestly? Not much.
adidas has not officially announced the Adizero EVO SL 2. There are no confirmed specs, no confirmed release date, and no confirmed pricing. Every spec sheet floating around the internet right now is either speculation or — in some cases — actually pulled from new colorways of the original EVO SL that retailers have mistakenly labeled as the SL 2.
What we do have:
- Leaked imagery showing a clearly new silhouette
- A clear visual lineage that traces back to the Pro Evo and Prime X Evo
- A strong base to build on — the original EVO SL was an award-winning, fan-favorite trainer
That’s enough to know this is real and coming. The rest will fill in over the next few weeks as adidas starts the official rollout.
Where to Track the Release
