Roughly two weeks ago, Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci uploaded an interesting post to his Instagram. The picture was of Sylvester Stallone dressed in a vintage Nike tank, a silk robe-like garment draped across his shoulders and both hands at his hips, just above a pair of slim fitting, high-waisted jeans.
Tisci tagged the image “coming soon,” “love” and “stallone,” all indicating truths that ultimately led to today’s Riccardo Tisci x NikeLab Dunk Lux High reveal.
Upon closer inspection of the shoe, which highlights a quilted leather collar, exaggerated foxing and extended height, then looking back at the Stallon image – likely a snapshot taken during his portrayal of Rocky Balboa – the boxing inspiration cascading across the shoe is crystal clear.
The elongated high-top, which looks more like a boxing boot than anything else, is said to release in three colorways: black with a white swoosh, white with a black swoosh and white with a red swoosh, according to Women’s Wear Daily. They also confirm a $300 retail price for the shoe.
The Riccardo Tisci x NikeLab Dunk Lux High drops on February 11 at NikeLab locations.
