With the majority of his Hall of Fame career playing for the New York Knicks, many associate Patrick Ewing with New York City but he first gained national attention for his play during high school at Cambridge Rindge and Latin located in historic Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ewing was back in Cambridge this past Saturday to celebrate the release of the CNCPTS x Ewing 33 Hi, a collaboration between the Harvard Square sneaker boutique, Concepts, and Ewing’s own sneaker brand, Ewing Athletics.
With his friends and family in the store, Ewing shook hands and took pictures with hundreds of fans that were lining up down the block for a chance to not only cop the shoe but to meet one of Cambridge’s greats. Ewing was proudly wearing the shoe, which paid tribute to his high school days at Rindge and Latin, and took some time in between the fanfare to chat with Nice Kicks about Ewing Athletics, Cambridge, the NBA and plenty more.
Another new model from Patrick Ewing's personal line is set to make a retro return thanks to the re-release of the Ewing Wrap. Ewing Athletics has had substantial success bringing back the Knicks star's vintage high-tops, but this silhouette tones it down with a lower cut and vivid colorways. Set to be rolled back out in a tropical black, teal and orange makeup, as well as a classic New York Knicks style code, both pairs feature Ewing's standard signature on the sidewalls and his last name stamped on the heels. Both designs will make their retro return on June 27th for an even $100 at Ewing Athletics retailers.
Dropping the top for the summer, Ewing Athletics rolls out another one of its vintage silhouettes with the Ewing Wrap. After the return of Patrick Ewing's mid-cut model was previewed earlier this week in its original Black/Teal-Orange style code, now we see the design in the classic New York Knicks-inspired colorway. Posted earlier on Ewing's IG, this makeup uses a white leather base with royal and orange accents. Watch for these to hit shelves in June, and tell us what you think in the comment box below.
Patrick Ewing's self-made Ewing Athletics brand has made a strong retro return since 2012, and the beat goes on with the return of the Ewing Wrap in its classic Black/Teal-Orange style code. With a lower cut than most of Ewing's signatures, this original colorway of the Wrap further sleeks the silhouette. A black and grey nubuck and mesh base houses vivid tones that are reminiscent of a Miami Dolphins makeup. Teal pops on Pat's John Hancock and name tag on the heel, then combines with orange on the midsole and outsole.
