Releasing this weekend is an all-time favorite for most in the Air Jordan 5 “Grape”. Draped in the teal and emerald color combination, this sneaker reminds some of the great Charlotte Hornets teams of the past. Originally released in 1990, and retroed in 2006, the “Grape” 5s will go on sale on May 4, 2013. Will you cop or drop the $160 sneaker? Last summer, Dime Magazine released the first “Shoot Jumpers. Not Guns” T-Shirt in an effort to end violence while promoting the game we love. The efforts have been incredible, as the series of t-shirts recently resulted in a $10,000 donation towards refurbishing a basketball court in an area in need. To celebrate the release of this weekend’s Air Jordan 5 and continue the fight against gun violence, Dime will be releasing a “Grape” colorway of the shirt. The shirts are on sale now for $23 here. All proceeds go towards fighting gun violence in area of need by refurbishing basketball courts and supporting playground basketball.
Before bright tones and Hornets hues were the norm on sneaker releases, there was the Air Jordan 5 “Grape”. A trendsetter and the topic of discussion leading up to it’s re-retro launch, the 2013 version features the same colors and composition that made the OG a classic. Smooth white leather provides a blank base for grape highlights and emerald green accents. Mesh panelling and a translucent outsole offer innovation of yesteryear that registers as stylish in today’s game. Check out detailed images of the “Grape” 5s and let us know if you plan on getting them this Saturday. Air Jordan 5 “Grape” White/New Emerald-Grape Ice-Black 136027-108 May 4, 2013 $160
