Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Baltoro”
Nike continues the trend of using the Air Force One silhouette as the canvas for cross-model collabs. This fall and winter season Nike has its biggest boot lineup to date, but one special make up of the Air Force 1 mid will come to the party dressed as the Nike Air Baltoro. The Nike Air Baltoro debuted in 1989 and accomplished what many thought to be impossible - a boot that could with stand any and all terrain, weather, but be so comfortable that the all day hike doesn’t murder your feet.
The “Baltoro” Air Force 1 mid has many of the touches that the Air Baltoro sports in its original form while keeping the original shape of the AF1. The swoosh and side panel is the rugged plastic cage that will protect the foot from any terrain it may come across as well as a rich, thick leather upper. To keep the look of the boot, the Baltoro AF1 sits atop a solid black rubber outsole and to finish off the shoe Nike used the classic zig-zag laces kids have been stealing from Baltoros at the outlets for years. The Baltoro Air Force Ones are part of Nike’s upcoming Sportswear Collection. At this point in time we do not have release details such as when and how much, but we will definitely keep you in the loop about these kicks. Photos from sneakers.fr. |

I think i’ll probably try my luck at all the jordans coming out during the holiday season. thats when JB usually release his best work. i’m torn between the 15/8 countdown or the 11/12 countdown since i already have the 11’s but neither the 15 or 8’s
Comment by P3 — June 4, 2008 @ 10:26 am
dey look alright but baltoros arent all that comfortable
Comment by MoE BeTtA — June 4, 2008 @ 10:34 am
all this talk about the baltoros and no reference pic?
the mids look ok. kinda remind me of the transformer pack
Comment by jibby — June 4, 2008 @ 10:48 am
P3 the 15’s aren’t mikes best work. maybe if they released the white n grey 15’s then maybe. and the 8’s. i remember buying my first pair years ago.the original retroes. They weren’t all that i thought they would be. they are cool but not the greatest shoe. maybe its because i wear size 14 so they dont look as good on me.
but the 11/12s? that isn’t even i doubt in my mind. those 2 shoes
are revolutionary and slick. th 11’s with the slick patent and gum sole were a first, and i believe the 12’s were the first official jordans that were ”jordan brand” and not just nike.
not sure when the 15/8s would drop if that, but the 11/12’s will be the 1 package that will satisfy me with both pairs
Comment by bkbigjay — June 4, 2008 @ 10:57 am
big ups bkbigjay, well put
far as these baltoros, they kinda hot, but i don’t wear af1s, i have seen so many bootlegs and now the official joints all look fake to me.
jordans and sb dunks, the sbs are not only hotter and more creative but more comfortable too and more stylish.
Comment by princeofthecity — June 4, 2008 @ 11:50 am
I’d get them, but there are other af1s id rather get this year. That lining is sick tho.
“th 11’s with the slick patent and gum sole were a first”
Gum sole? Huh?

maaaaan….. Nike should just release the original baltoro’s again better yet they should stop all these fusion af1 just re release their whole catalog from 1989 to 1995 from running shoes to j’s in all original colorways so all these young cats that just jumped on the I collect shoes bandwagon can see how dope the originals were with out all this wack ass hype b.s. They be releasing an af1 is just an af1 in my book as dope as they are it’s a shoe we all love but for god’s sake please just release the good ish only….. Peace

^ Ha! Yes, Clark is quite vocal about the way he feels about the Air Force 1 Mid.
Besides the work they did structurally to the shoe I really like the color balance and combination.

I’m not a fan of “out-there” colors, but this is kind of fresh. Besides, they are going for the Baltoro look anyway.
