Jordan True Flight

Last week Nice Kicks brought you the first look at the upcoming Jordan True Flight, but there are additional colorways on the way to get excited about. Taking color cues from probably the greatest retro colorway and another classic, the True Flight will make be assembled in versions that resemble the “French Blue” retros from ‘02 and the “Cardinal Red” that were first released in ‘92 and in ‘06. Jordan Brand will be taking a break from retros for the first part of 2009 so the Fusions, True Flights, and Jordan 2009’s will be responsible for fulfilling the Jumpman demand. If Jordan retroed EVERY shoe in EVERY color anyone would want, I don’t think that the brand would be in much demand after a few years tops.
The longevity of the brand rests in the new creations the Jumpman can be applied to.

These look like cheap immatation walmart J’s.? Not to mention the “Buzz kill” with a Cardinal colorway?? I do agree with Comment 4, but the reason EVERYONE wants retros is because they havent put anything out worth buying latley… but the retros.IMO. I do not know whats going on with JB but they seem to be concerned more these days with making money…then making classic shoes that will be loved for years to come. It is true that the 90’s will never return…But I feel the least JB could do is give it a try. Who in the hell will be wearing a pair of these S*%ts in 15 yrs?
PS– for you cats that feel the shoes need upgrades.. better this and better that.. The old man had no problems performing in them.. MAYBE its your GAME that needs the upgrade….WORK ETHIC makes champions not sneakers.

Like #1 said probably a great shoe to ball in. But as for just sportin with your gear not a good look. It’s just something about em but I can’t put my finger on it.

im starting to think that the photography has more to do with the comments left than the actual shoe itself. Everyone was loving the all black model with red stitching, which coincidentally, had way better snapshots than these cellphone quality pics….just sayin..

i like this concept of upgrading jordans to give them a lil different look. and to comment 6 i agree with most of what you said jordan did play in all his shoes but he did say that some of them did get a bit uncomfortable like the 8’s that mad his feet sweat alot and wear very heavy and also the 10’s but just like you said he still perfomred in them and perfomred in them well. i like this idea of upgrading the retros because its like your getting something new but at the same time you still have a retro feel also

nice colorways i think it would be fire if they put a olympic colorway out also…
what do you mean there hasnt been a retros “woth buying”. They retro’d atleast every classic colorway in the CDPs.
I think the looked better in the Black colorway that was shown last. But these two new ones look like they’ll sell. these look way better than the 6 rings or the Spiz’ikes IMO.

quite frankly im ready for an entirely new sneaker, a diffrent concept. every new model seems to be based of an old design. i like the direction they were going with the 23’s just seems like a lot of people cant let go of the past…i love and have plenty of og’s but a lot of people cling to the older designs so much we’re never going to get anything new…these are ok i guess but im ready for something new jb…

This is 2008 going into 2009, I am pleased where JB is going with the models. I’ve BEEN READY for something knew. There’s nothing wrong with retros, but Jordans from the past are getting played out and overrated. I love these TRUE FLIGHTS, straight FIRE!!

I like the cardinals and the ones from the last article, but the midsole of the french should be white. btw, they are supposed to be like the 7s, just reinvented.. i can’t wait

Sorry, I am not feeling these. They remind me too much of the Nu Retro II’s that came out a few years ago, seems like many forgot that this is not a new concept.
I would rather see JB stick with the whole “2009″ retro’s and keep them a high performance shoe, or even create a new shoe. Please stop ruining classics!

One more thing. This does remind me of what the Big 3 are doing with their cars. Kind of like when Ford re introduced the Thunderbird. The car was too expensive, too small, and there were other better vehicles, at a cheaper price.
Hyperdunks are cheaper, and are going to be better.

I think some people are forgetting that these shoes are for playing basketball and not to wear casually. I love the idea. Other playing shoes don’t look that good but those look decent. But I’m all for retros coming back.

a smart move for all you sneakerheads is to look at the players Jordan and Nike have now, whether its Chris Paul, Melo, Lebron, etc. and pick up their signature shoes and put them on ice immediately…in ten fifteen years, you’ll either make a killing, or you’ll have the meanest collection of kicks in your hood..but your wasting your time clamoring for all the retros, i would like to be able to get alot of things that were before my time or that i couldnt’ afford when i was young but i just can’t…twix won’t come back out with the cookies and cream flavor ever again, i just gotta let go

JB should just sign a top player (errrr… D.Wade, anyone??) and just start making a line of signature shoes for him. Maybe that will get things going… imagine that, Air Jordan Wade I, AJ Wade 2 and etc.

Ok guys seriously, Jordan can’t keep making and selling retros every year. How long have they been doing it?
When it comes to sneakers (and lots of other things) there are multiple generations involved. Our generation wants the retros and the new generation wants something that new and theirs.
I’m with Nicekicks in that Jordan should try something new with new materials and new technologies. It shouldn’t be just the Air Jordans getting the high technology.
For me this sneaker looks a little lame, but I am from a world of seeing the original AJ7. Someone born in 1992 might be more interested in something new with a taste of something his older brother might have worn or maybe his dad.
Will Air Jordan ever have Air Max 360? Tn? What about this Free technology or fly wire stuff? Let Jordan do something different. They can’t keep putting out retros forever. The whole point of the countdown pack is to get your fill of retros cause there aint gonna be any more for a while.
So lets cut AJ a some slack for making something appealing and new.

I’ll add this: I completeley understand that this shoe is for ball, but it seriously does need a little tweaking though, starting with the upper. What my point is that people pay damn good money for these shoes, so in that respect WHY NOT ask for style with substance?

I WAS BORN IN 1973, AND BOUGHT MY FIRST JORDANS IN 1989. YEAH, I GOT ME THE OG 4′S IN BLACK CEMENT GREY, I DIDN’T EVEN THINK MJ WOULD BE THE G.O.A.T. BUT I BOUGHT HIS J’S CUZ MY FRIENDS WERE WEARING THEM. I ADMIT, I COUGH OUT $100 FOR THOSE J’S, BACK THEN IT WAS A LOT OF MONEY. BUT TODAY, JB IS CHARGING AN ARM AND A LEG, AND WE’RE BUYING THEM. BASICALLY, I only have these and other “True Flight” releases to look forward to in ‘09. Hopefully they do it for 5’s or 8’s.

Most of you are missing the point. These shoes are simply upgraded so people can start playing ball in some Js that have retro style and not worry about ruining your retros and OGs by playing in them. Jordan will continue to retro beloved models and colors, but in order for them to grow and last they have to appeal to a larger group. Jordan came about for the purpose of basketball, and that is what they continue to fulfill by putting out models like this. Don’t hate it just ’cause it ain’t a retro. If it looks good to you that’s what counts not the model number.
