Garnett: NBA 2k9 Cover more special than Signature Shoes

Wouldn’t it be nice to play in the NBA and have your own signature sneaker? Kevin Garnett thinks it’s pretty cool, but his most recent accomplishment brings him more joy than any shoe deal (no…not the championship trophy). To everybody’s surprise, Garnett said in a recent interview with Das Gamer that his recent appearance on the NBA 2K9 game cover outweighs any sneaker deal! Huh? Maybe he was just a little too excited at the time. Sure, gracing a video game cover is a great achievement, but what about the decade of great shoes he has worn from 3 different brands? Pretty big toss up. I can guarantee you that a few Madden covers would have traded their covers for some new cleats in hindsight

NBA Live and NBA 2kX are two separate franchises. EA Sports is behind NBA Live while 2k Sports is behind the 2k line.

KG must be a gamer head because I don’t know about that. No one remembers who is on the cover of a video game the next year, but that lineup of his shoes will last far beyond his playing career.
Look at Mike. MJ didn’t get on any covers as I recall and that man will be forever remembered by the shoes he had.

it doesnt matter which cover he was on the fact is.. well at least to me is that he like being on a cover more than a his own snkr and im with him on an nba player stand point well if i was one how many ppl have their own shoes? and how many ppl the cover of a game thats y its important mj doesnt have a cover because he didnt want one i remember in earlier games he didnt even want his face in the game funny dude he like his bread

Honestly I don’t see why this is a huge shock. Is it really odd that he personally likes being on the cover of NBA 2K9 over his shoe deals? Maybe looking at the picture makes him remember exactly what he was thinking in the finals at that moment…maybe looking at himself on the cover of NBA 2k9 brings him back thinking about that championship year and all he went through prior to signing with Boston and winning the NBA title…more so then when he looks at the shoes.

Jordan… why won’t the video games put him on there? I would love to play with him, especially in the 2K games where they very accurately replicate the shots, and moves and swagger of the big stars. It would be incredible to experience Jordan’s game in your own hands!
