Vans Strikes Again with the All-New Old Skool Bolt

The original surf and skate brand Vans debuts the all-new Old Skool Bolt. This silhouette introduces a lightning bolt element to the iconic Vans Old Skool, which first debuted in 1977.

Vans is home to many classic models such as the Authentic and Sk8-Hi, with the Vans Old Skool being yet another sneaker that will never go out of style. The new Vans Old Skool Bolt keeps all the elements of the classic Old Skool intact, but adds a lightning bolt element to the sneaker’s midsole.

For its debut, the Vans Old Skool Bolt arrives in Black, Green, Red, and Blue. Each iteration has a White base with colored accents on the toebox and sidestripe. The lightning bold shape is outlined with colored trim and corresponds with the eyestay, which also has an updated lightning bolt shape as well.

This new silhouette appears to nod to the Revenge x Storm Classic Plus, which was modeled after the Vans Old Skool, and was first introduced to the sneaker scene in 2016 by fashion influencers Ian Connor and Noah Stutz.

The Revenge x Storm Classic Plus has a similar structure to the Vans Old Skool with a lightning bolt on the side instead of the sidestripe. Ian Connor and Revenge Storm have been criticized over the years for lack of originality, and Vans may be entering the chat as they ironically rework the Revenge x Storm rework.

The Vans Old Skool Bolt is available now. The retail price is set at $75. To purchase, visit Vans.com and select Vans retailers. For more sneaker news and release dates, follow @NiceKicks on Instagram.
