Reebok’s First Pitch platform has already proved to be a success. First Pitch has reimagined the way sneakers are consumed, with the consumer dictating a sneaker’s production. Following the sold-out pitches of the Reebok Classic Leather “Bee Keeper,” which was funded in 12 hours, and the Reebok Club C “Vote,” which was funded in 48 hours, the First Pitch platform looks to bring the tennis-influenced Reebok Club C “Open Membership” to life.

The First Pitch platform has given consumers a chance to voice their say on a variety of Reebok sneaker concepts. First, a sneaker idea is brought to life and is given a 30-day period to be funded. Each sneaker begins at $1 and will raise $1 with every purchase until it reaches the retail price of $90. When the sneaker is sold 500 times, it will be constructed and shipped in nine weeks. If the sneaker doesn’t hit the 500 mark, the concept is discarded.

Up for construction, this concept of the Reebok Club C is imagined back to its tennis-inspired roots. The sneaker is constructed in a chalk leather upper contrasted by hits of terry clothing tennis lining across the heel panel. Vintage typography treatments including “Reebok Tennis” on the exterior and “The Athlete’s Shoe” on the interior bring about a feeling of retro club nostalgia. The sneaker is topped off with a vintage midsole and a neon-tinted outsole.

Summarized by Reebok designer Martin Nachez, he is quoted saying: “The colors and textures play it hard. Straight tennis ball feels from vintage chalk toned leather to hairy suede and a heel tab with authentic tennis ball material. A bold neon yellow sole and terry cloth lining (mood: sweatbands and wristbands) give off country club nostalgia with an exaggerated twist.”
