New York’s Extra Butter popped up at San Diego Comic Con this past weekend and released an exclusive The Jetsons x Crocs Echo Clog to celebrate the show’s 60th Anniversary.
As an animated family from the future and the past, The Jetsons is a timeless enigma that remains beloved amongst cartoon fanatics. Embracing both mid-century modern and the space-age aesthetic, Extra Butter uses the Crocs Echo Clog to capture The Jetsons’ ubiquitous existence.
Mid-Century Modern has been making such a comeback lately- providing inspo for people’s home decor, vintage furniture finds, and ultimately their personal fashion style. This laid the groundwork to champion a relevant product story for The Jetsons.
Some of the more overlooked aesthetics of the Mid-Century Modern era were Googie and Atomic movements- both emphasizing highly stylized art directions that spoke to a space age, futurist perspective. This design code was only augmented once The Jetsons hit television sets across the country.
When I first came across the Crocs Echo Clog, it felt very retro-future and immediately identified an opportunity to champion The Jetsons story.

The molded upper is covered in a striking green colorway and paired with a vibrant blue hue on the co-branded footbed. The clog features 3D Jibbitz inspired by Orbit City, the world which The Jetsons live in. Iconic elements including the family’s flying car and their Skypad apartment are crafted into Jibbitz to add an extra touch of animated imagination to the shoe.
