Created with community in mind, the AFEW x ASICS Gel Lyte III “Beauty of Imperfection” is a special sneaker that’s being raffled off to raise funds for a German children’s hospice. These sneakers are some of the rarest of the rare as only 1 pair was made worldwide and it comes packaged in a special box – a tea table made by Martin Heck.
Inspired by the Wabi Sabi philosophy, this ASICS Gel Lyte III has a tearaway upper that reveals a new layer of the sneaker. The base is made with beige perforated suede that corresponds with the midsole and ankle collar. The overlays and ASICS vector appear in deep olive green, which complements the black leather patch on the heel counter. For a pop of color, the eyestay and heel tab stand out in gold. This design detail matches the gold Kanji character that sits just underneath the heel tab. AFEW branding embossed on the heel counter and heel tab finish the design.
This sneaker is only available in a US Men’s 9 and will be raffled off via an IG live event, with tickets starting at €5. All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Regenbogenland Children’s and Youth Hospice, a facility for children and young people who have a limited life expectancy due to life-threatening illnesses or a severe disability. The Regenbogenland runs exclusively on donations and prides itself in creating a relaxing environment, where life and joy of living are the focus, and the remaining time for family and child is shaped as positive and fulfilling as possible.
