Nike Hyperdunk “Marty McFly”

Nike Hyperdunk Back to the Future Marty McFlys

The Undefeated shop in Santa Monica will be the focal point of all the hype circling around the “Marty McFly” Nike Hyperdunk. This shoe features Nike’s new Flywire technology for a new age in performance, but its cosmetic appearance is equally as “awing”. The shoes, inspired by the Marty McFly kicks from Back to the Future 2, bring a speckled midsole, McFly style color blocking, Back to the Future style logos, and finished off with a glow-in-the-dark sole.

The shoes will release tomorrow, July 2nd at 4PM with an appearance of a “special guest.” Hmmmm, 2nd at 4PM - could it be Mr. 24 himself? You do the math…Expect a crazy lineup at this release.

  26. This is so frustrating. Who releases at 4 PM on a Wednesday. I have a job. How do they expect people like us to cop them when punk unemployed kids can stand in line and sell them on ebay.

UNDFTD should check the shoe size of every customer before selling them a pair. If someone is a 9 and they are buying a 13, don’t sell them.

  38. You know what? If Nike wont step up and give us those McFlys then I’m putting it out there and asking the bootleggers to step up and give us what we want. Nike wont do it but, I’m sure the asians that’s pumping out those fake Js would love to do the McFlys. Hook us up people.

    Comment by CardinalSin — July 2, 2008 @ 7:00 am

  39. Power laces WOULD be sweet. I can’t imagine it being THAT difficult to do. For $240.. why not? I could totally see people buying these on e-bay for $500+, dont you?

I’ve never bought ANY shoes for more than $60. These look pretty nice, but, just no where within my budget (and I make over $45k/yr).

That’s right, you kids like to be spoonfed your “cool”. Before anyone was “stunting” in pre-fab matching clone “urban” outfits we knew how to hook up our gear. You should do some homework and try it sometime, you’ll be all the fresher for it.

  43. I laughed out loud at the person who said they were boycotting. The fact that there won’t be enough for you to buy a pair doesn’t mean your boycotting it means you can’t find a pair. If you walked by a store and they had them you know damn well you walk in.

  51. that was the biggest bullsh*t ever. my crew waited all day…kobe shows up an hour late (sh*t was suppose to start selling at 4pm, by the time they did the raffle it was easily 7:30pm, kobe arrived in a delorean and stayed 10 minutes, f*ck that dude)…when he does, everyone bum-rushes the line and f*ggot-*ss weasels cut in line…f*ck undefeated santa monica for running this unorganized, ghetto f*cking operation (you could have easily remedied this mob sh*t by passing out numbered bracelets)…also, it seemed like they only sold like 20 pair (instead of the 100 pair, undefeated hoarders, i know you are hoarding)from my count of suckas (line-cutters) walking out with black bags…then they raffled off only 10 pair at the end, and of course some suckas who waited no more than 10 minutes won a pair of autographed kicks. eff that shiznit, your killing the game. karma. F LINECUTTER WEASELS, F UNDEFEATED, F WUSSY SECURITY, F KOBE, F NIKE.

  64. the point of the mcflys and the movies was that they were from the future so y the hell does the shoe look like it came from the 90’s? the 1 from the movie goes wit the flow of todays swag it fits right in a lot of people r staying away from big bulky sneakers.

    Comment by UFOKID — July 7, 2008 @ 8:03 am

  65. Hey there -

I was the one who drove Kobe in the DeLorean. I’m not even a basketball fan and he was super cool… an absolute gentleman.

I thought the shoes were awesome, but I couldn’t even get a pair and I drove Kobe to the event! They must be awfully exclusive. And I would’ve kept them and worn them… not put them on eBay like 45 of the 100 people have done so far.

Oh well… if anyone anywhere knows how to get a pair… Size 11 PLEASE!!! :)

  66. ON MEXICO WHEN ????

    Comment by carlos — July 11, 2008 @ 8:50 pm

  67. 2 1/2 days….that’s how long heads have been waiting @ house of hoops in the big apple.

i was @ the undftd santa monica release and i got totally shafted. i was there for 12 hrs, i think the first cat was there for about 24 hrs. it was mad unorganized, peeps were cutting in line when kobe showed up an hour late in the delorean. twas a mess, no wristbands or anything, ridiculous. then they raffle off the last 10 pair, and of course, some people who show up 15 minutes prior win a pair.

i hear it was also a bad look @ NTLA when they were passing out wristbands. peeps were getting salty, cops were by every hour. heads had to sit on the marble cause i imagine the stuffy city of beverly hills would’nt allow chairs or the appearance of camping.

the hyperdunk mcfly hype has hit a critical mass, it’s hitting every hipster blog, yahoo, wired mag, news outlet, you name it. i haven’t seen this much hype since the titanium or the pigeon. i didn’t see this one coming.

i don’t know how i feel about it…it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. i’m addicted to sneakers but at the same time i feel like i need to grow up and leave this bullsh*t. these kicks have hit $1,900 on ebay. that is effin madness and makes me utterly sick.

people don’t get marketing. nike could have made more of these mcfly’s and they would have easily gotten consumed by all of us and would have made more money than doing a limited release…but by making them limited, it creates a buzz and hype that is utterly priceless. i wouldn’t call it genius but it’s pretty damn clever.

i’m banking that the nike marketing gurus didn’t even see this one coming. i’m willing to bet that they are surprised at the level of success and buzz of this one.
