Kicks on Court: Team USA in Olympics
Earlier today Team USA finished off group play with a commanding victory over Germany just like all of their prior games in Beijing. Just before we head off into the medal round, we thought it would be a good time to take a quick minute to take a quick look at the great kicks the team wore on court.
Several of the team members with signature sneakers were treated with special Olympic colorups for the Games while other Nike team members proudly wore the Nike Hyperdunk. Dwight Howard, as you probably know, was the only team member not in the Nike family. Take a look after the jump of our favorites to date. |

Lebron James - Nike Zoom Lebron Soldier 2

Chris Paul - Air Jordan XX3

Chris Paul - Air Jordan CP3

Carmelo Anthony - Air Jordan Melo M4

Dwight Howard - adidas Rapid Bounce

Dwayne Wade - Converse Dwayne Wade Team Signature

Kobe Bryant - Nike Hyperdunk

i am a very HUMBLE sneakerhead, but i think JUST a little more important is the play of the USA bball teams (yes teams…the women are doing their thing as well). Go USA!!!!

t!minor - The play of the team was acknowledged in the start of the post.
But yeah, as I watched the game this morning this morning, I was immediately hooked on that white/navy XX3 Chris Paul wore!
The USA is back! Most might see this comment as a premature celebration, but the team core and defensive presence is unbelievable! And if they keep shooting the way the do from behind the arch, definitely look for the USA National Anthem to play on Aug. 24th - which is also the little sister’s 10th b’day!

Oh yeah, Kobe was rocking his “Black Mamba” Hyperdunks today as well.
Nice!

why dont people like hyperdunks??? but those XX3s chris paul has on are nice….are those the new loves or an player editon colorway??
Comment by Simba — August 18, 2008 @ 7:28 pm
hmmmm, I thought the team was suppose to wear the Hyperdunks throughout the whole tournament…oh well, guess they have to promote their own shoes :/
Comment by RepCodes — August 18, 2008 @ 7:49 pm
Why would you think that? The Hyperdunk wasn’t made with the intentions of all the USA players to wear, especially when their are other players with their own signature shoes.
Nike is just sponsoring the USA teams in the Olympic Games and introducing the Flywire Technology, not demanding everyone to wear the Hyperdunk.

Simba, I’d say it’s because they have no taste or they’re just in denial that it is actually a nice shoe, one of the two.

the hyperdunk is a baller’s show, ever since it dropped i’ve seen it on many ballplayer’s at different tournaments in the NY area..it may not look good with your “skinny” jeans but its getting a lot of run out there

I LIKE XX3 THAT CHRIS PAUL IS WEARING…! IS THAT COMING OUT AT ALL THIS YEAR?
Comment by oldjumpman — August 19, 2008 @ 12:36 am
WHAT COLOR ARE THOSE XX3′S… ARE THEY THE WHITE, RED & BLACK?
Comment by oldjumpman — August 19, 2008 @ 12:39 am
I don’t like the hyperdunk cause of the look. Not my style. But the way it feels on the court is a whole different story. Love it on the hardwood! =]

i don’t think hyperdunks look that bad, but that’s just my personal opinion…i think it’s the best bball shoe (non-retro) since the air zoom huarache 2k5.
Comment by mr. stevo — August 19, 2008 @ 3:02 am
The 23’s look nice. Chris Paul just had to change his shoes, he’s been stuntin hard. The judges has been ripping the USA Olympians off bad. That’s aight though, the USA rule at b-ball. GO USA!!!!
Comment by lcsupa — August 19, 2008 @ 8:51 am
GO USA.
As stated before, I’m a major fan of the Hyperdunk…and…usually if a shoe has this much conversation you know Nike has done their job. I’ll be playing in my Hyperdunks today, in fact.
I also got excited when I saw those XX3’s on Chris Paul, are those white/navy? I dig ‘em.
Why cant D-Wade rock a better pair? Come on Nikeverse…shoe some love for the man, he might have a monster season with his newly found health.
Comment by Biggins — August 19, 2008 @ 10:17 am
go usa! hyperdunks look the best even though i hate kobe, i gotta love him in the olympics and chris pauls xx3s look great too. respect to the other players and their shoes, but none of them come close to the two i just shouted out. the new lebrons are not as cool as some of the older models, i dont get it. they were on to something but took a wrong turn with this last one.
Comment by princeofthecity — August 19, 2008 @ 10:52 am
As great as Wade has played during the Olympics, it still sucks he has been doing it in a pair of Converse shoes. When will Nike realize and admit that Converse as a brand doesn’t stand for high energy performance.
Wade would be adding much more to Nike, Inc.’s bottom line if he was wearing the Hyperdunk than wearing his own Converse shoe. Like it or not, Converse is a brand that should just hash out retros of its iconic models. Nike purchased history and legacy when they acquired Converse - not a brand making performance products for the world’s top athletes.
Comment by Nice Kicks — August 19, 2008 @ 11:15 am
Couldnt agree more. Heck, I’d rather see D-Wade rocking a pair of USA Weapons then what he’s currently wearing.
Of course he’d be more comfortable in Hyperdunks
Comment by Biggins — August 19, 2008 @ 12:41 pm
those air jordan XXIII white/navy are siiiiiiiiick
Comment by zake — August 19, 2008 @ 8:16 pm

Comment by ryand23 — August 19, 2008 @ 10:36 pm
I wonder if they got anything special for the gold medal game in the works because it’s looking like the gold is coming back to the states.
Comment by solesaved — August 19, 2008 @ 10:50 pm
TRIED ON THE HYPERDUNKS, TOO SNUG FIT ON MY FEET. THEY’RE BETTER ON PPL WITH NARROW FEET I THINK. THEY LOOK REALLY GOOD, I LIKE SHOE, JUST NOT COMFORTABLE… ALSO I LIKED THE LIGHT FEELING ON MY FEET, LIKE A HUARACHE ALMOST. I GIVE IT 3 1/2 OUT OF 4 STARS.
Comment by oldjumpman — August 20, 2008 @ 1:42 am
Matt, I agree 10,000% percent. Converse is dead as far as basketball goes. If this was the 60’s, then yeah!
Comment by dj.jbras — August 20, 2008 @ 11:16 am
These D-Wades…weren’t that bad..they just haven’t been that successful with his shoe…they should have made the Hops, wade’s sneaker..that would have looked good!
Comment by Amos Leak — September 10, 2008 @ 10:44 pm
