Adidas Superstar CLR

Adidas Superstar CLR Clear Blue SoleAdidas continues great things with the great Superstar. This trans generational, trans cultural sneaker continues to be the focus of creativity in the Adidas lab and this summer’s lineup is no different. One of the gems from the lineup is this, the Adidas Superstar CLR or “Superstar Clear.”

If this shoe looks a little familiar, then you probably have been into sneakers for more than just a couple years. That’s because in 2002 there was a limited release of the Adidas CLR in two color ups but rather than a color-tinted translucent sole, the Superstar sported a clear sole. Six years later one can only imagine how yellow these soles and shell toe would look.

Adidas has their full lineup of upcoming Shell Toe’s posted that include many versions on the 1969 classic including Vintage, Skate, CLR, and many more.

Adidas Consortium ZX 9000 “Salmon”

Adidas Consortium ZX 9000 Salmon RunnerA short while back we gave you a little taste of what was to come from the Adidas Consortium series in the form of late model ZX kicks. The ZX 9000 is coming back (finally) with a mixture of new age and old school touches. These ZX 9000’s are nicknamed the “Salmons” because of a scale like textured on the upper complimented with silver-cameleon reflect TPU’s like that of the fish. Other modern touches include leather lining, but Adidas keeps a hint of old school with an aged midsole.

Limiteditions gave us a series of detailed photos of these sneakers and are booking pre-orders for this release. Look for more of the upcoming Adidas Consortium collection to come soon.

Lemar and Dauley x Adidas Streetball ‘08

Lemar and Dauley x Adidas Streetball '08Adidas has recently been making some new noise in the market of performance basketball sneakers with their collaborations with streetwear brands. Last year Adidas gave us a collection of sneakers that celebrated earlier days of hip hop on current basketball signature kicks. This collab was done with no better representative of sport and hip hop clash fash than Undr Crwn. The two hooked up again this year as we gave you a peek at the Undr Crwn x Adidas Gil II Zero a few days back.

To introduce a new silhouette, Adidas has gotten together with retro loving Lemar and Dauley on the Adidas Streetball ‘08. Bright colors and geometric patterns dress up this sneaker in ways that we commonly see on their clothing. This collab is part of the ongoing Adidas Remix collection that has included hip hop artists along with brand mash-ups.

We first saw these at the MAGIC Show in Vegas a while back and a few pairs dropped at UNDFTD LV, but look for both colors to drop April 15th at spots that include Flight Club, Bodega, and Moe’s. Pics courtesy of Complex.

UNDR CRWN x Adidas Gil II Zero “Ice Cold”

Undr Crwn x Adidas Gil-Zero Adidas put a handful of eggs in Gilbert Arenas’ basket (pause) but the dice didn’t roll the way they had hoped when after just 8 games Agent Zero was forced to undergo surgery.  Leading up to the NBA season, Adidas and Gil were pumped up for his limited run of kicks that dropped a new model every 3-4 games.  Initially Gil asked for 82 pairs, one for each game, but luckily for Adidas they didn’t concede to his wishes.

Despite not wearing the kicks on court for the special releases as planned, the limited Adidas Gill II Zero sneakers still have generated some net buzz on blogs and fan sites.  Saving the best for last, Adidas and UNDR CRWN came together again for a limited collaboration of the “Ice Cold” Adidas Gil II Zero.  The upper of the kicks is a metallic platinum with a repeating subtle net pattern adding the nice aesthetic touch we would expect from UNDR CRWN.  To complete the “Ice Cold” theme, the Gil II Zero sits on an icy clear sole.

Just 1000 pairs will release at select Adidas retailers April 4th.

Swoosh Shut Out of Final Four

Final Four Kicks Adidas and JordanDavidson put up quite a fight against the Kansas Jayhawks, but with the miss of a last second shot by the Wildcats, NCAA Basketball history was made as all 4 No. 1 seeded teams advanced to the Final Four since the round of teams was expanded to 64 in 1985. Folks in Beaverton saw their last hope in Davidson to make the Final Four as all other Nike endorsed school had fallen in the Tourney. That’s right, Team Nike has been shut out of the Final Four. This is the first Final Four where not a single Nike shoe will be worn during the Final Four weekend since the field was expanded.

Fan apparel has long been big business for March Madness season, but this year fans could literally get decked out from head to toe. Adidas made team editions of the TS Pro Model available to the public for the start of the tourney and Jordan Brand will release the player editions of the Jordan 15SE for UNC and Georgetown April 12th - one week after the new Champ is crowned.

Adidas’ lineup of team TS Pro Models are available online at Finishline, but you’ll have to wait until the Madness is over to grab the UNC Jordan’s.
