Adidas today announces a new innovative technology set to make a profound mark on performance footwear, FORGEFIBER. Efficiently providing a precise fit and unparalleled support in performance footwear, this new creative debuts today on the AlphaBOUNCE.
FORGEFIBER, a process that utilizes TPU-coated yarn to maximize targeted zones of stretch and lockout when stitched and heat compressed resulting in 30 percent more resistance using less thread, sees its greatest purpose in its ability to behave differently for each type of sport given its flexible fabric upper.
“Running is more about linear movement,” remarked Jason McGinnity, designer on the adidas Future team. “The super flexible and strong FORGEFIBER upper for a runner will provide enhanced lockdown and stability in the midsole for a smooth gait cycle. For basketball we want to be much more prescriptive in certain areas of the shoe, like on the lateral for heavy cutting.”
The new tech debuts on the adidas AlphaBOUNCE LTD FORGEFIBER, in a limited Core Black colorway dropping later this month for $140 at adidas.com. For now, FORGEFIBER drops will be strategically scaled, with more products set to release in the near future.
